China has regained its status as the largest trading partner of Uzbekistan after the National Statistics Commission of Uzbekistan released its foreign trade statistics for the first five months of this year.

Figures show that uzbekistan's foreign trade in the first five months of this year totaled about $12.9 billion, including $7.8 billion in imports and $5.1 billion in exports.

Due to coVID-19 and other factors, Ukraine's total foreign trade in the first five months of this year fell by about 2.4 billion US dollars compared with the same period in 2019.

Uzbekistan now trades with 140 countries and regions around the world. According to the Ukrainian government's foreign trade statistics for the first four months of this year, Russia has surpassed China to become Ukraine's largest trading partner.

The statistics show that the trade volume between China and Uzbekistan grew rapidly in May. In the first five months, the bilateral trade volume reached 2.3 billion US dollars, and the trade volume between China and Uzbekistan overtook that between Russia and Ukraine.

At present, trade between China and Uzbekistan accounts for 17.9 percent of the country's total foreign trade. In addition, The top five trading partners include Russia (accounting for 16.9 percent of Ukraine's total foreign trade), Kazakhstan (8.4 percent), South Korea (7.3 percent) and Turkey (5.5 percent).

In 2019, Ukraine's total foreign trade was $42.2 billion, with China, Russia and Kazakhstan among the top three trading partners.
